I DO NOT RECOMMEND using PDX MOVERS. You will regret it! Look at the photos from their supposed pack job. All our stuff is broken. We moved out of state and decided to use a company that provides a shipping container and transportation for the goods. PDX movers said they provide labor for this type of job and could handle our 3 bedroom townhouse. I explained that the transportation company charged by the linear foot, shared that with our “moving coordinator” and the team lead who was onsite. On the day of the move, I showed the reps the large plywood bulkhead that needed to be installed once the truck was packed, and explained that this was where the transportation company would measure to determine the cost of transport. The transport company said with a townhouse of our size, it shouldn’t be necessary to use even half of the trailer (and it was a very large trailer). I stood inside the empty trailer with the reps from PDX Movers and showed them the bulkhead. Unfortunately, I had to leave for a couple hours to attend to some other things, and left them unsupervised. I mistakenly assumed they would take care and consideration with our belongings, and pack the trailer properly. After they said the job was finished, I noticed they had packed our mattress last, and looked behind it and realized they had hardly organized anything, and had haphazardly placed all our belongings in the most inefficient way possible. I asked again about the bulkhead, then the team lead said he would charge me more money to unpack the truck to find it. It was later in the day, and I needed to take my wife and her sister to the airport. There were other red flags — we agreed to have them wrap some of our items in blankets to protect them, and had agreed to let them charge me (big mistake) per bundle. I discovered they were wrapping almost every item that wasn’t boxed, when these items could have easily been wrapped in cling film. I also discovered they double wrapped things like couch cushions, in order to inflate the costs of the move. One of their employees rolled his ankle, and his counterparts did nothing for him, and one of them later told me they were supposed to have a first aid kid but they didn’t bother with it. Thankfully, we had ice and were able to provide help. I ended up moving a lot of my own items, it was clear toward the end of job that they had no sense of urgency. Then the team lead had the nerve to tell me that this was an easy job for them. They ended up leaving a number of boxes, rugs, and other small items in my house, and I had to ask them to come back and load them. Because they didn’t bother packing my stuff behind the bulkhead, it ended up not being secured which meant it would travel cross country without a lock. Thankfully the transport company helped out. The next day, a rep for the transport company called and said she had inspected the trailer and had some serious concerns, mentioning that this was one of the worst pack jobs she had ever seen, and suggested we consider having the movers back out to repack everything. Unfortunately, we had already left the state, and I wasn’t interested in tempting fate with PDX Movers again. They clearly don’t care about their customers. Ultimately, because we used PDX Movers, we will end up paying thousands of dollars more to the transport company because of how sloppily they packed the trailer. I am certain some of our items will arrive damaged, as after I’d asked them to stop their overuse of blankets, they tossed my stuff in the trailer without a care. I hoped by using a professional, local company, that we would have great service, but this has not been the case. Please heed my warning about PDX Movers — this is not a reputable moving company and I would not recommend them for anything, even in an emergency.

UPDATE: After what can only be described as the worst move experience I've ever witnessed (and I've had several, from across town to across the country), I need to amend my review. I spoke with Max Oppenheimer, my sales rep, about this, and he understood why I could no longer stand by my original five-star review because I wasn't comfortable with it. I recommended my mother use their services to move from West Salem to Friendsview in Newberg, a life-plan community, and was very certain she would have an equally wonderful experience. They often work with Friendsview residents, and the crew leader said he'd moved someone else in a couple weeks prior. I attended the move for the duration to assist and support her. This crew, however, was incredibly slow moving, inefficient, rude, and poorly trained. What should have been a very quick, straightforward move ended up taking a few more hours than the original estimate, and they broke a china cabinet, deeply scratched a dining room chair, and broke our family heirloom piano. I was surprised to watch how slowly the team was working, and once we all arrived at Friendsview (it took them two hours to load the piano onto their truck), they were tossing items into a large tote and then moving them one by one via the elevator. They left her items outside the elevator, I presume so they could take items up as needed, but that blocked accessibility quite a bit, so I felt terrible for residents who were also using the elevator for their day-to-day use. The claims team was awful to work with, and the most reimbursement she received was $50 toward a $200 repair of something one of their contracted repairmen did (he ruined the cabinet and was aggressive toward us when he came to "fix" it, to the point that we had to ask him to leave due to not feeling safe). I don't want this review to go on and on, but it was a terrible experience from start to finish, and I've been absolutely appalled by the lack of accountability from the claims team. While one of the contracted repairmen ended up being pretty good (piano), the other was appalling (cabinet). I will be reviewing both companies separately on their own pages, so if you need more detail, check out Max Biggs Piano and Signature Kitchen Cabinet Painting & Wood Refinishing. In light of this, and despite the fact I personally had an excellent experience, I cannot possibly recommend this company to anyone. We are finally complete (my mother's move took place back in late May), and I HIGHLY encourage you to seek out a different company because there is a 50% chance that you will have a really horrible move that will cost you thousands more than you expect, and the claims process is so drawn out that it feels almost sisyphean. I wish she had been reimbursed the more than $500 they went over estimate along with the $200 she paid to have their contracted repairman's repairs actually repaired (say that five times fast). --- My husband and I needed a pack and move from Salem to Tualatin and, after reaching out to a few companies, decided on PDX Movers. Their estimate was higher than others, but I was so impressed with the professionalism of every person with whom I worked that I figured it was worth it. The packing crew (Dan E., Eric P., Niilo C., and Sam J.) arrived on Feb 23 and got right to work - they were super efficient, professional, and friendly, and they packed everything AMAZINGLY - not a single broken item or chipped or scuffed piece of furniture. The moving crew arrived on Feb 24 and were equally as great - two were from the day prior (Niilo and Sam) and two were new to us (Lauren and Rodney). As a former military spouse, I’ve had a few moves and they never went all that well, so I was nervous but this company restored my faith! I will use them every time I need anything large moved and recommend them to everyone. They also came in thousands under their estimate!

PDX Movers did an incredible job with our recent move from Portland to Seattle. The crew, led by Eric, was professional, efficient, and a pleasure to work with. Ben, Juan, and Kimo were all incredibly helpful and respectful of our belongings. Everything arrived safely, and they went above and beyond to ensure a smooth transition. I highly recommend PDX Movers for any moving needs!

Riley and crew did a fantastic job on our move from rural Washington to the Portland Metro area. We lived on a single lane steep twisty road and bit a single piece of our full house load shifted. Plus they moved our belongings swiftly and carefully. All on the hottest day of the summer. I highly recommend this crew if you are moving

Our in-town move with PDX Movers was unfortunately not a five-star experience. Firstly, our move was drastically underbid. We were initially told it would take a crew of 4 7 hours to move our 3-bedroom house. It became apparent after 3 hours that the crew would have to increase to 5, and they had to work overtime to complete the move. This discrepancy cost us $700 over the estimate. Also, they could not fit everything in the truck so we ended up having to make multiple trips ourselves to move the remaining items. Secondly, several items were damaged during the move including our daughter's crib. It was not safe to use and we've had to purchase a replacement. We have not yet filed a claim for the crib, but based on other reviews of the claims process, I may not even bother. Lastly, I received a text message today from PDX Movers claiming that due to an error on the part of their movers, I owe them an additional $71.36 with no explanation as to why, nor why it took them a week and a half to notice. This is especially infuriating when our estimate was so far off, yet they feel the need to try to collect more money due to their own incompetence. I cannot recommend PDX Movers to anyone.
